Tips for Web Content Writers: How to Create Content that Stands the Test of Time.

Do you know why it seems like it’s impossible for you to build a successful website content service? Do you know why you can never build a successful blog? It’s because your content sucks, BIG TIME!

Sorry for starting this post with those words–I was just voicing out my thoughts.

How can you make your content stand out amongst millions of contents? How can you write a web content that generates traffic and subscribers? Don’t worry, you’ll receive answers to these questions in this post.

The reason why 40% of online businesses fold up every year is because, most of them lack quality content. You can never build a large following and a responsive audience if your content isn’t engaging and informative.

You must understand that quality content is the lifeline of any growing blog–it’s what you need to build a successful website content service or online business.

In this post, I’ll be guiding you systematically on how to write quality web content that gets ranked and stands the test of time.

Become a Clown for a Second–Add Humor

Aha! Don’t get too serious. Common, you’re not writing a Science textbook; you’re writing a web content. You’re writing for people not for College Professors. Add a touch of humor in your content. Spend more time writing and researching your post.

Make it informative, insightful, funny, and clear.

The result: If you provide value and at the same time make people laugh, they’d visit your blog again!

Challenge your readers–Invoke Controversies

I love challenges because, I believe they’re tools we need to become successful people.

The fastest way to engage your audience and make them have a couple ”Ha” moments is by writing conversational posts. Write contents that’ll  push them to talk.

Here’s an example of a conversational post, Do you agree with me that relationship marketing is the best way to build a list?

Pro tip: Write contents that challenges readers and they’d draw close to you!

Add Your Experiences

Did you had a great Val party last year? What challenges did you faced recently? Share these experiences in your post.

Put a bit of life in your content by adding your life experiences and true-life story.

The result: If people can feel like they know a bit of you, they’d come to you for advice.

 Add Images

This is very important. If you really want potential clients to hire your website content service, or buy your product, then you have to include professional images in your contents.

Don’t publish a post on your blog without an image–it’ll make you look unprofessional and may reduce your chances of getting hired.

Pro tip: Remember, the addition of systematic professional pictures and visuals can have a great impact on your content. You can get professional pictures from Shutterstock or Google images

Be Creative

Do you ‘’think outside the box’’ or imitate others? It’s good to follow the steps of successful people but you can’t achieve BIG THINGS if you keep doing that. You have to find your strong point and deliver! You have to be creative.

Content writing isn’t really about your tone, grammar, or spelling (though all these are very important), but it’s about being creative. It’s about the deliverability of your words.

Does your content make the reader say, ”Oh! Gosh. I’ve got to apply this to my business”? Does it affect and educate the reader?

If your content doesn’t deliver any of the above then you should work on your creativity.

Pro tip: If you study, the lives of successful entrepreneurs of today; people like, Pat Flynn, Tom Ewer, and Carol Tice–you’d notice that they’re creative content writers. Imitate these kinds of people and try your best to improve the quality of your content.

Take away tip: Don’t provide the same type of content everyone provides, add some spreadsheets and checklist to make your content more appealing.

Use Heart-Killing and Persuasive Headlines

The best way to make your content stand out from the ‘’SEA’’ of web contents out there today is through attention grabbing headlines. Your headline should promise a benefit, get the reader thinking, and make the reader say, ”Wow! I’m going to check out this content”.

Let me tell you something you don’t know:

Do you know why top fortune 500 companies and agencies spend thousands of dollars every year on web copywriters? It’s because these companies understand that headlines are lead generating tools.

If your headline doesn’t sell the reader then your content is useless (sorry for saying that)

Pro tip: effective headlines do not only draw the attention of readers, but also appeals to the search engines. So, ensure that you spend more time writing appealing and engaging headlines that doesn’t only appeal to the search engines, but also to readers.

Here are some examples of attention grabbing headlines. Feel free to use or tweak them to your taste:

” 9 things I hate about blogging”

”Hush… Read this if you want to grow your email list”

”Do you know why you can never succeed blogging? It’s because you suck!”

‘’Where do I find website content writers? (Here’s where you can find them)”

”9 things to look at when hiring a website content service”

I have to stop here before I fill the whole page with headlines. However, feel free to use any of the above or tweak them to create your headlines.

Make Your Content ‘’Scannable’’

Do you know why your content sucks? It’s because it’s not readable. Break your content into paragraphs, sub-headings, bullet-lists, and write in simple English terms that people understand.

Pro tip: a study show that 50% web users scan contents rather than read it line by line. So, do all you can to make your content simple while at the same time readable.

Break it into short paragraphs (at least 3 to 4 paragraphs at most).

Have a Clear, Call to Action

Even the best and most informative content is useless without a clear call to action. It’s a way to tell the reader what to do, and steps to take after reading your content.

Pro tip: This is your opportunity to sell your product or service—take advantage of it!

Think Ahead

Look for ways to improve the quality of your skills and service.

There’re so many people out there with little or no knowledge about web content writing who claim to be website content writers. The only way you can beat these folks and at the same time, build a long lasting online website content writing service is by doing what I call ”uncommon things”.

So many website content services offer similar services as yours. There’s no way to avoid this but it’s pretty simple and easy to make yourself unique and stand out from the crowd.

Can You Do Me a Favor?

Take up a sheet of paper and write down goals for your business. Write down your aspirations and set dates  you want them accomplished.

Don’t always be a reader–be a doer…
